Undergraduate Programs

The department offers a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy, which covers the major issues and areas in doctrine. It is intended to serve the needs of students who wish to pursue alumnus studies in philosophy or emphasize doctrine while acquiring a broad free arts department of education. Majors in doctrine take courses in a variety of philosophical traditions and analyze logic, ethics, and social and political philosophy. The philosophy platform can complement other interests of students when they complete a second major in another playing field. In accession to the general academic degree in doctrine, students can choose one of two concentrations. The concentration in philosophy and police offers philosophy majors the opportunity to focus their learn of philosophy in a way that prepares them for the survey of the law. The concentration in Philosophy, Politics and Economics ( PPE ) is a high credit rating concentration for students concerned in a broadcast that explores the interdisciplinary connections between doctrine, political science, and economics .

Minors

The department offers a child in doctrine and a minor in philosophy and law. These minors are available to students in any major. The department, in cooperation with the Schar School of Policy and Government, coordinates the interdisciplinary minor in political doctrine.

Bachelor’s/Accelerated Master’s Program

The department offers highly qualify undergraduate majors in philosophy the opportunity to apply to an accelerated victor ’ south degree course of study in doctrine. If accepted, students will be able to earn both the undergraduate and graduate degrees after satisfactory completion of 145 credits, by and large within five years.

Graduate Programs

The department offers a master of arts academic degree in traditional and contemporary doctrine vitamin a well as specialize concentrations in philosophy and cultural hypothesis and ethics and public affairs. The concentration in ethics and public affairs gives students the opportunity to explore the ethical and philosophical issues that arise in such fields of study and make as business, health care, scientific research, biomedical technology, and public policy. The assiduity in philosophy and cultural theory provides students with a classifiable and significant theoretical initiation for doctoral employment in cultural studies .
Students are encouraged to pursue opportunities beyond the classroom such as study afield, professional internships, and inquiry with faculty members .
